"We have the power to hold no opinion about a thing and to not let it upset our state of mind - for things have no natural power to shape our judgments" this is what Marcus Aurelius wrote in his meditations, book 6.52.
The power to not have an opinion is something most of us overlook, in fact, I can push it as far as to say we simply don't consider not having an opinion as an option. Yet is it is something we so desperately need, something that comes close to being the best definition of being free.
We just have to say something about this or that, we just have to show how well-read and smart we are. We just have to fall into the trap of thinking and trying to figure everything out. We just have to say or think something...
Just stop, just stop for a moment and remember your strength, remember your power, the power to say no, the power to not have an opinion, and just look the other way and let things be.
Sometimes there are things a man cannot know, most importantly you don't have to imagine future pain, worry, and stress or you don't have to have a say because you are given a platform to speak.
Just breathe and hold yourself and let events unfold especially when your thoughts, imagination, and words won't make you feel any better or bring some sort of relief or improvement. Be in the moment and let go of opinions.
